Leading the Lubricant Business

From humble beginnings in 2008 as a service provider for marine oily-waste, KA Petra embarked on a strategic initiative of strengthening its portfolio by moving up the petroleum-product value chain.  As a result, in 2012, KA Petra was awarded by Shell the prestigious status of Master Distributor in Malaysia for all marine-related lubricants and functional fluids. Thereafter, within two (2) short years, KA Petra achieved a major milestone in earning Shell’s recognition as the No. 2 distributor in global ranking; a testament of KA Petra’s capability in delivering innovative solutions to its clientele.

Building on this foundation, KA Petra proceeded to re-align its focus in 2015 with emphasis on delivering value-added services coupled with coverage of global ports.  This was achieved with the transition to an Exclusive Distributor status with Gulf Oil, a renowned lubricant brand of USA origin and accredited as the eldest of the original “7 – sisters” of the global oil & gas multinationals, which include the likes of ExxonMobil, Shell, BP Castrol, etc.  With Gulf Oil, KA Petra continued to gain traction in the lubricants business vis-a-vis the expansion of its supply footprint beyond Malaysia’s borders.

With the onslaught of the Covid-19 pandemic crippling global economies, multi-brand oriented services are becoming staple as corporate entities grapple to address security of supply by seeking variety in product offerings from suppliers.  In tandem with customer demands, KA Petra is enriching its range of product offerings with the inclusion of ExxonMobil-branded lubricants.  This strategic re-alignment is of significance and it enables KA Petra to provide a bespoke ‘best fit’ package tailored to be customer-centric.
